1. Johannesburg, South Africa
Stay
About the destination: Johannesburg serves as the main entry point for most tourists visiting South Africa and is its largest city. First-time visitors might not realize that Johannesburg and Pretoria are only 60 kilometers apart, yet the two cities are vastly different, offering a fascinating contrast. South Africa's largest city is cosmopolitan, quirky, and vibrant, boasting glorious weather and friendly people. One of Johannesburg's charming characteristics is its truly international and cosmopolitan nature. The city is unapologetically and unmistakably African, with enough First World infrastructure to ensure a comfortable tourism experience. Newtown and the Market Theatre area form the city's cultural precinct. Braamfontein, the university district, features a great Saturday market, a lively nightlife, and a very artsy vibe. Be sure to visit the stunning Apartheid Museum. Soweto, the most well-known and celebrated township in South Africa, is a sprawling mix of shanty towns and formal housing estates located about 30 kilometers outside of Johannesburg in Gauteng. Johannesburg offers a plethora of interesting and often quirky activities. If you're willing to dig a little deeper, you'll find enough to keep you happily occupied for a few days, providing excellent context to help you understand the turbulent history that has shaped South Africa into what it is today.

Stay
About the destination: Kuala Lumpur is situated at the meeting point of the Kelang and Gombak rivers and serves as the capital of Malaysia, as well as its commercial, economic, financial, and cultural hub. It stands out as one of Asia's burgeoning cities, undergoing rapid development to become a vibrant metropolis. The city presents a striking mix of the contemporary and the traditional, where modern, cosmopolitan elements fuse with old-world charm. Here, ancient colonial structures, temples, minarets, and domes harmoniously coexist with towering skyscrapers. The skyline is notably marked by the Petronas Twin Towers, among the tallest buildings globally, yet the older city sections retain a quaint, historical ambiance. Kuala Lumpur's abundant green spaces earn it the title of a garden city, and by night, its illuminated buildings and streets transform it into a dazzling urban landscape. Kuala Lumpur is celebrated for its multicultural essence, showcasing a rich tapestry of customs, traditions, vibrant festivals, diverse cultures, and an extensive selection of exquisite cuisines. This lively city offers a wealth of experiences to every visitor.

4. South Bali
Stay
About the destination: The southern region of Bali, despite its general chaos and heavy tourist presence, boasts the island's finest beaches and several intriguing sightseeing tours. Therefore, if you're planning a trip to this destination, I suggest you allocate at least three full days to explore. If you find Bali too congested, the Kuta area and its surroundings are a great alternative: it was here that the first wave of travelers arrived in search of surf, and they also discovered a paradise worth sharing. Despite the noise and the less prominent presence of Balinese culture compared to other areas, Kuta and its surroundings still offer a delightful experience. Legian Street is charming, perfect for purchasing souvenirs or bargaining with locals for a dress; the beach is ideal for surfing, and it's a sight to behold as it's always bustling with surfers; and the sunset is a spectacle you simply cannot miss. Locals throng the beach in large groups, many of whom are eager to take photos with you, play soccer, or simply swim; and impromptu bars spring up offering cold beers and crates as makeshift local bars. The sunsets are stunning and completely harmless. However, the local lifestyle here is less immersive than in other parts of the island, so don't expect to find a quaint market or a temple around every corner.

8. Easter Island
Stay
About the destination: Easter Island is an island belonging to Chile, located in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the farthest southeastern point of the Polynesian Triangle. Easter Island is renowned for its 887 remaining monumental statues, known as moai, which were crafted by the early Rapa Nui people. In 1995, UNESCO designated Easter Island as a World Heritage Site, with a large portion of the island safeguarded within the Rapa Nui National Park. Easter Island is one of the most isolated inhabited islands on the planet. The most popular tourist attractions on Easter Island are the Moai statues that stand on ceremonial platforms known as Ahus. Additionally, Rano Raraku and Orongo require entry to the national park. Two remarkable sites are the volcanic craters of Rano Kau and Rano Raraku. The quarry slightly inland at "Rano Raraku" is where the majority of the moais were carved, on a hillside.
